Hey yo’s.
I had my heart surgery yesterday… it started around 11am. They made an incision in my thigh and sent some catheters up my artery and one up a vein into my heart. Then the doc made them speed my heart rate up to 200bpm off and on trying to find where the extra connector was in my heart.
Turns out, it was on the left side where they had predicted. So, they heated up the end of one of the wires and burned it twice…for a total of about 10 seconds. Then they waited for a bit and gave me some crazy drug that makes your heart race, gives you cold sweats, makes you nauseous, makes you feel like passing out, makes your hearing weird, and makes your head hurt all at the same time for about 10 seconds. It was intense. They do that to try and send the heart back into the WPW cycle. It didn’t work, so apparently they have fixed it.
I was awake the whole time. It only took an hour.
Weird feelings…things going up your veins/arteries…
There is a 5-10% chance it will come back…
The hardest part was stopping the bleeding in my leg…that took an hour. And laying still on your back for 6 hours was also ridiculous. But they sent me home at 7:40pm.
I can’t lift anything over 10lbs for a week…so I can’t pick up Annabelle which is going to be hard.
Last night, it started bleeding, but we finally got it to stop…what a nightmare.
But the bottom line is, I am okay. And home. And loving it.
Thanks for you prayers and support.
